Kiwi Timber Protection Ltd (KTP) commenced operation in March 1999. This was preceeded by a period of intense activity involving design and construction to achieve a plant that would not only meet current environmental and operational requirements but would allow future developments to be undertaken without complete redesign.
The owners of KTP recognized that increased scrutiny of timber treatment plants along with economies achieved by volume processing were creating a demand for a new facility capable of processing large volumes at a single site. With this in mind the owners set about acquiring a suitable site, designing the building and site layout and purchasing plant and equipment to meet these demands.
Following the process laid down in the resource management act KTP began its application for resource consent from local authorities in the middle of 1998 and was granted the neccessary approvals towards the end of 1998 when construction was started. Like all projects the completion date slipped back and the first charge was completed in early March 1999.
Local companies were used throughout the planning, design and construction phases.
