Saturday May 13 saw the official opening of the new Whangarei Central Library.
Kiwi Timber Protection is an active member of the Northland Community and when asked about the treatment of the pou ihi or Totem polls that are placed in front of the Library to show the cultural diversity of the region. Adrian Broughton CEO and founding member of KTP went that step further and offered their treatment services for free.
Adrian went on to say "As a born and bred Northlander its nice to give something back to the community which has supported me so much over the years"
The formal opening ceremony, complete with festive cultural activities, invited dignitaries also held a blessing for the ten pou ihi that where installed and Prime Minister Helen Clark formally opened the Library at 11.30am.
